The Village of Palmetto Bay will be celebrating the holidays throughout the month in various ways from major municipal events, to neighborhood gatherings, food drives, and even a boat parade.
Palmetto Bay is offering its residents and guest of all ages a merry mix of fun holiday happenings.

Downtown Palmetto Bay Holiday Celebration

Saturday, December 5th
Time: 5 PM to 9 PM
Location: Village Municipal Center, 9705 East Hibiscus St

The Village of Palmetto Bay will be hosting its first official Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony which will take place at 5:45 PM.

“We are planning to celebrate the season by transforming our Village Municipal Center in Downtown Palmetto Bay into a veritable winter wonderland,” says Parks & Recreation Director Fanny Carmona, “complete with snow flurries, Santa photos, ice skating, and an entire sleigh-full of traditional holiday activities.”

This free and open to the public event features festive music performed by carolers, a menorah lighting, delicious food and beverages to include hot chocolate, funnel cakes, and other seasonal favorites. There will be a children’s work shop where they can be inspired by the holiday spirit creating beautiful arts and crafts, write a letter to Santa and play with Rudolf and the Snowman.

Parents can also do some holiday gift shopping by visiting the marketplace where various vendors will be selling many goods.

Time: 3 PM to 7 PM
Location: Ludovici Park, 17641 Old Cutler Rd

Palmetto Bay continues with the holiday spirit in its annual “Holiday by the Bay”.
Enjoy performances by students, carnival foods, arts and crafts, a mini midway, library story-telling, and pictures with Santa. To top of the night as in last year’s event, get caught up in the snow flurry that always sets the crowd into a fun-filled frenzy.

Saturday, December 12th
Time: 4:30 PM (Fleet pushes off at 5:30 PM)
Location: Coral Reef Park pedestrian bridge, 7895 SW 152nd St

Please help those in need by donating non-perishable cans, boxes, and packages of food during the 6th Annual Holiday Boat Parade, sponsored by the Palmetto Bay Canal Boat Association, a local independent organization.

For information, contact Rainer Schael or call 305-799-8533. Donations will be delivered to Village Hall where they will be combined with Palmetto Bay’s municipal Food Drive items, and forwarded to Feeding South Florida.

menorahCommunity Chanukah Celebration – 2015

Sunday, December 13th
Time: 2 PM to 4 PM
Location: Coral Reef Park Gazebo/Bandshell, 7895 SW 152nd St, Palmetto Bay

Chanukah will be celebrated by the Village of Palmetto Bay. This free event is being hosted by Chabad of Palmetto Bay. Mayor Eugene Flinn and members of the Village Council will join with Rabbi Zalman and Chani Gansburg for the Grand Lighting of a menorah at 3 p.m. The entire community is encouraged to attend this event, which includes activities for all ages:

• Bounce house
• Kids arts and crafts
• Music and raffles
• Traditional holiday delicacies
• Donuts
• Chanukah gelt (chocolate coins)
