Islamorada Diving

Islamorada Diving… There are many scuba and snorkel charters in the Village of Islands that are ready to take you out on the reefs. Islamorada may be the sport fishing capital, but it is slowly gaining popularity among professional divers. The immensely diverse reefs include many different kinds of beautiful coral. Grunt fish, goatfish, moray eels, nurse sharks, and angelfish tend to patrol the reefs in droves. When in the water, be sure to check out the different shipwrecks and habitats that line the islands. Some popular underwater sites include:

The Eagle: a 287-foot sunken ship that was intentionally sunk 110 feet down as a dive attractions. It is coated in sponges and corals.

Alligator Reef: a massive 136-foot lighthouse marks the location of this reef, so it is fairly easy to find. It is the location of an 1822 shipwreck called the USS Alligator. Most of the ship has deteriorated away, but the reef it birthed is still kicking it.

Crocker Wall: this wall is 450 feet long in 50 feet of water. It has a 30-foot decline with a plethora of spur-and-groove and block coral that line the wall. It attracts fish like yellowtail snapper, grouper, and grunts.
