South Miami

South Miami, one of Miami-Dade’s oldest municipalities, was incorporated back in 1927. W. A. Larkins founded the city after the Miami to Homestead section of the Florida East Coast Railroad was completed. He owned a dairy farm and post office in the area at the time. The area had a major population boom during the 1920s. This is when the citizens of the area decided to incorporate their town. The city of South Miami is perfect for families. Two of Miami’s best hospitals and plenty of great schools can be found in the neighborhood. The city is known as the “City of Pleasant Living” for a good reason: it’s a wonderfully pleasant place to live right in the heart of Miami’s suburbs.
