Sitting just off Old Cutler Road where it intersects with Red Road in the heart of Pinecrest, is a 77 home walled community, Pine Bay Estates.

Pine Bay’s first home was built in 1967 with its last being built in 1982. Ted Meares was the original developer who built several homes before selling to Marvin Hollub in 1972, who finished the subdivision. Most homes are 4 + bedrooms and 3 + baths averaging over 4,000 square feet, most with oversized 2 car garages. The interior lots are full half acres and the perimeter lots are builders’ acres. The majority are north/south facing which is the ideal exposure for south Florida.

Pine Bay was annexed by an overwhelming neighborhood vote in 1996. Prior it was part of Miami Dade County who was not able to provide the service the neighbors wanted. Snapper Creek Lakes, Deering Bay and Hammock Lakes were annexed at the same time. It was a perfect fit as the houses all had tile roofs, side entry 2 car garages, conforming setbacks. Today most of the buyers are young with families and are renovating to current taste. The roving security is part of a special taxing district. The schools are Pinecrest Elemenatry, Palmetto Junior High and Palmetto Senior High. It is a very special neighborhood, always with a low inventory of homes for sale.
